Annie’s Café, Abertay Uni
Following the success of Saxen’s delivery of furniture packages to the new cyberQuarter facility at Abertay University, we were delighted to be invited to assist with upgrading works in the Annie Lamont Café.
The café was fitted out with bespoke and loose furniture in 2022; however, the client wished to enhance the space by introducing biophilic elements, retail space, and ensure a vibrant and inclusive hub for students, visitors, and staff.
The Journey.
Natural finishes were again employed to complement existing aesthetics.
- Locally manufactured fitted elements included vending housings, seating areas with integrated planters, retail display showcases, and recycling facilities.
- Accessories included built-in umbrella stands and printed upholstered cushions.
- Our bespoke furniture was designed and manufactured in the central belt of Scotland in keeping with our constant strive to employ local companies – an integral feature of our carbon reduction plan.
- Loose furniture was sourced from British manufacturers, with tables manufactured eight miles from Glasgow. All soft seating was upholstered in stain-repellent, anti-microbial fabrics in neutral tones.
All resulted in a welcoming, popular space at the centre of campus that looked fabulous on day one and, due to the finishes specified, will continue to do so.
