practice what we preach.

What we do on the outside.

Our philosophy is to influence a better workspace through great design, choice of products and understanding our clients' needs.

We aim to make a difference in the world by offering furniture, flooring and acoustic solutions made from recycled materials like discarded PET bottles, old clothing and used coffee sacks. We ensure all our furniture uses responsibly sourced wood from FSC certified sustainable forests. Implementing sustainable design principles is a great tool to help businesses become greener workplaces for the future.

Great! But, what are we doing on the inside?

our journey.

We are committed to achieving Net Zero and are continually looking at ways to get there. Below we have detailed what we have achieved so far.

  • Working in partnership with Net Zero Nation, we have produced our first Carbon Reduction Plan.
  • All our wood based products are sourced from FSC forests
  • All our manufacturers are ISO 14001 certified
  • We recycle all our cardboard waste packaging
  • All other waste is processed by recycling specialists
  • 30% of our staff have switched to an electric vehicle
  • We are currently upgrading our showroom lighting to LED
  • We have implemented cloud based storage to reduce paper usage
  • We only use reusable tableware in our offices and showroom
  • We use 100% recycled toilet paper shipped in bulk to us using a carbon neutral shipping method
  • We continually promote products, fabrics and flooring made from recycled materials to our customers
  • We offset our business miles by planting trees and rewilding in Scotland  (more below)
  • We have changed our business cards to bamboo with in-built chip (just tap and share)
  • Introduced our furniture recycling scheme 'Regener8' to recycle used furniture instead of going to landfill

carbon reduction plan.

We recognise the importance of making a full and lasting commitment to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions from our activities, in support of the wider commitment of the world to limit global temperature increases and the impact on the planet.

We have committed to the following:

  • For our company to achieve Net Zero in line with the Science Based targets set out by the UNFCCC i.e. to achieve Net Zero no later than 2050 and target a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030.
  • To set realistic short- and long-term targets that are designed to achieve our Net Zero commitments.
  • To report the total Greenhouse Gas emissions of our business, at a minimum, on an annual basis.

the saxen grove.

Our wee bit of the Caledonian Forest, where we are offsetting our business miles against trees planted near Loch Ness, in the Highlands of Scotland.

Each tree we plant will help to rebuild the Caledonian Forest which once covered over 1.5 million hectares of the Scottish Highlands. This is part of our commitment to giving back to nature and mitigating the environmental impact of our day to day operations.

Our saplings are planted alongside other young, native trees, transforming open hillsides into healthy young woodland, rich in wildlife such as red squirrel, black grouse, capercaillie, wood ants and twinflower. The rich diversity of wildlife habitats includes ancient Caledonian pinewoods and superb birch and juniper woodlands. With mires, wetlands and wildflower meadows, it is a haven for wildlife.

goodbye to the classic business card.

Business cards, while extremely useful, are very wasteful. We’ve opted for the V1CE bamboo business card with built-in NFID chip and a QR code.

You simply tap the card against a smart phone or scan the QR code and all your details pop up on your colleague’s phone.

For every bamboo card bought, the company also plants a tree, winning all around.

"It’s important that internally we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact of our carbon footprint and we intend to be adding more to the list in the coming years.”
